We're on our mission ; to advancing economic growth and prosperity in Ghana and Africa by conducting innovative and rigorous research on free market policies and promoting individual liberty and citizen activism to ensure equitable and sustainable use of natural resource in Ghana and the rest of Africa. African Liberators Economic Institute (ALEI), Centre for Research, Advocacy and Builders We work to fight poverty by championing and promoting sustainable development through good governance which is anchored on social cohesiveness, rule of law, social inclusiveness, free market and individual liberty. In connection of this, we work in these thematic areas which largely focus on virtually everything on public policies geared towards reduction of poverty and our concentration is on pro poor intervention policies which includes, environment in water and sanitation with a renewed focus on sustainable results, whiles working on intervention in food security, Energy/Climate Policy , Education, Science and Technology, Agricultural Engineering and Industry, Foreign and Immigration Laws Policy, Social and Economic Entrepreneurship/Social Justice, Peace and Security and Mineral Resources Policy, the rule of law, and economic freedom essentially underpinned by research and advocacy of human rights and democratic growth and independence . Mission Statement To promote and improve scientific and innovative research on free market and individual liberty by building citizen activism and strengthening the various economic and democratic institutions in Africa to ensure equitable distribution of wealth and protection in improving living standard of the people, especially the poor in Africa. The African Liberators Economic Institute (ALEI ) promotes innovative , scientific , knowledge and evidence -based research for decision-making in the area of empowering and building strong citizen activism to fight against poverty. We carefully collect, analyze and cross-check relevant data in order to reach conclusions that are likely to give answers to the urgent questions arising in the process of African economic restructuring . To that end, research and outreach activities at ALEI are intended to support strategic choices which can contribute to a better implementation of the objectives of sustainable development in Africa. The work of ALEI is also focusing on capacity-building in African economic restructuring. ALEI analyzes obstacles, constraints and challenges to African economic independent and offers solutions for sustainable development in connection with the social transformations that arise from it Africa. THE VISION OF ALEI The main vision of ALEI is to promote scientific and knowledge-based research on economic restructuring intended to create a model for sustainable economic development in Africa, to engage in regular public dialogue throughout Africa, to form a new generation of elites interested in creating economic blue print and to engage in strategic partnerships within and outside Africa to drastically reduce poverty in Africa especially in rural areas. ALEI research is chiefly intended for regional and national public institutions, the private sector, civil society and the media. These scientific and socio- political platforms give stakeholders the opportunity to discuss the results of current research and the main obstacles to poverty reduction in Africa. In brief, ALEI provides through research policy advice and recommendations, platforms for dialogue between scientists and practitioners, the capacity building for the new generation of regional elites to outstand the obstacles to the sustainable development in Africa. WHAT ARE THE MAIN RESEARCH AREAS The priority research areas of ALEI IS centered on the following pro poor subject matters : Centre for Environment in water and sanitation Centre For Health ,Energy/Climate Policy Centre For Education, Science and Technology, Centre For Agricultural Engineering and Industry Centre For Economic Entrepreneurship/Social Justice Centre For Peace and Security and Mineral Resources Policy Centre For the rule of law, Human Right and economic freedom Centre For Foreign and Immigration Laws Policy Centre for Environment in water and sanitation We believe that as Ghanaians and for that matter Africans our wellbeing and very survival is much dependent on sound and sustainable environment that has greater and effective life support in the area of clean water and sanitation. However, over the years governments’ policy direction has failed to put in place effective mechanisms to make our environment safe from pollution and other life threatening substances. It very sad that Ghana has been rated as one of the dirtiest countries in the world and this grim reality is not faced by Ghana alone but majority of countries on the African continent. This means that many of ailments confronting our compatriot are self inflicting which has been culminated into countless number of deaths. This is an evident in many national and global health reports and we think that it time we demanded for fair treatment from various governments on the continent to reverse the trend. We therefore advocate strongly for reforms in law and policy that will improve our sanitary conditions and water situations in order to guarantee our rights to safe environment, and specifically lobby for policies that will promote clean environment free from filth to help the poor escape from environmental diseases like malaria so that they can live healthy to work for wealth and property. Centre For Health , Energy/Climate Policy We are committed to safeguarding the very foundation on which our existence and survival hinges on. Health is our greatest assets and we cannot trample upon it or sacrifice it for anything to the detriment of our lives. Government is there to administer policies backed by programmes to have positive impact in the lives of the people, but because of corruption and mismanagement they fail to priorities policies and programmes that will improve the health status of the people. Instead of investing in healthcare facilities they spend huge sums of money on projects that have less impact on the people. Many public healthcare facilities are not up to international standard this is not as a result of governments having too little money to maintain them but because of corruption , misplaced priority and mismanagement . For this reason, we advocate for policies that will force governments to strictly adhere to investing certain amount of our resources to improve the public healthcare facilities to attain international standard everywhere. We lobby for the government to introduce healthcare laws that will force the citizenry to go compulsory medical check-ups in every three months. Due to the fact that Ghana’s energy sector is not appropriately tied in to the country’s overall long term and short term development agenda in particular to industrialization drive, Governments have failed to adequately finding a lasting solution to the perennial problems confronting the energy sector and its concomitants challenges including climate change and its adverse effects. The Centre is committed to carry out series of research , advocacy and educational programmes intended to create a pool of ideas to engender reforms and pressure governments to embark on programmes with a view to effect changes in the sector to improve the social welfare of Ghanaians and Africans in general . Centre for Education, Science and Technology (CEST) We believe that every citizen of Ghana/Africa has the right to quality education and that education should not be a preserve for the rich people. In view of this the CEST has fully resolved to embark on series of research, advocacy and educational prigrammes to encourage right investment in the provision of educational infrastructure to improve on access and quality education in terms of numeracy and literacy among school going children especially the poor in Ghana and Africa as a whole. CEST also believes that science and technology is the greatest and fastest vehicle that guarantees rapid development in all sectors of the economy including agriculture engineering, education, health care, economic development, and governance among others. The Centre conducts research and studies on Information Technology strategy, Telecommunications, Innovation, and right economic Infrastructure for socio economic progress. Centre for Agricultural Engineering and Industry The Agricultural industry is a large segment within Ghana/Africa’s economy. However, the Agriculture engineering has not contributed significantly to the growth of agriculture industry in Ghana and Africa as a whole. This is partly due to lack of commitment by governments to introduce policy that will help the industry to create the right framework facilitated by an enabling environment to ensure we add value to various raw materials we produce in the country and Africa as whole for substantial revenue . As a nation we need are full-scale solutions that not only boost overall performance and productivity of our farming operation , but also offer innovative and sustainable solutions to improve on business aspect to create wealth for our prospective countries on the continent. We therefore advocate for greater investment in agriculture engineering and technology to facilitate growth in the industry. Centre for Economic Entrepreneurship/Social Justice (CEESJ) Our focus as far as our Centre for Economic Entrepreneurship/Social Justice is concerned is to work assiduously in conducting sequence of research and advocacy programmes with a view to empower the citizenry particularly the poor in Ghana and for the matter the Africa to practice their trade without any hindrances to ensure they own their property and also enjoy their right to equitable distribution of wealth and protection in Ghana and Africa .To truly empower poor people in Ghana and Africa CEESJ is working hard to focus on the root causes of poverty which can be found in lack of requisite knowledge and good perspective in creating jobs , lack of financial support and deliberate policy to inculcating the entrepreneurship drive in the young people especially the graduate from the various tertiary institutions in Ghana and across Africa. Centre for Peace and Security and Mineral Resources Policy Be believe sound economic development of Ghana/ Africa has intrinsic link with peace and security and Mineral Resources which is considered as the elementary source of wealth for our various countries on the continent and the same have vital impact on the various parts of our economies such as education, health care, economic development, governance. In this vain, the Centre conducts research and analysis on peace and security and Mineral Resources and thus finds lasting practicable solutions from reforms in policies which can translate into concrete infrastructure for sustainable development. Centre for the rule of law, Human Right and economic freedom This centre focuses on the effectiveness and improvement of fundamentals and entrenched development of democratic governance of Ghana/Africa which is inherent in the rule of law, human rights and economic development. We think that the current dispensation of democratic tenents need to be reformed to give way for security agencies like police to be more independent from the executive instrument of the state to ensure that they have the free hand to enforce the laws of the land without fear or favour as it expected of them since in the fundamental of rule of law the key component is equality before the law . We know that as it stands now the heads of security agencies in Ghana in particular are appointed by President who wields political influence on these security appointees especially those in police service and we think that this arrangement does not support independent policing in the country and by extension enforcement of rule of law which is prerequisite of democratic governance. We, therefore, advocate for policy reform to ensure the appointment of the Inspector General of Police, IGP, in particular to be insulated from the executive influence and for that matter the president’s whims and caprices and thereby giving that mandate to an independent council formed with various important stakeholders to ensure the IGP is given term of office to carry on his constitutional mandate to effectively deal with security matters in the country. And we believe the same arrangement should be workable in all Africa countries to ensure protection of rule of law, human rights and economic freedom. It is our belief this will pave way for more rigorous position where the governments will uphold rule of law and champion human right issues very well to help every individual citizens to incentivize their inalienable right to develop career in food security for instance, for livelihood support and diversification and entrepreneurship drives that is grounded in owning legitimate businesses and properties for the total wellbeing of the citizens in Ghana and Africa at large. Centre For Foreign and Immigration Laws Policy The centre recognizes the sovereign state of Ghana and any other country in Africa as an independent sovereign nation and its laws including foreign and immigration laws policy and we attached the same commanding respect, acknowledgement and recognition for any sovereign state or country in terms of mutual interest regarding business development opportunities and socio-economic partnership between any individual countries with Ghana/Africa. We therefore advocate for reforms in policies backed by programmes that will inure in the common socio-economic interest of Ghana and Africa as a whole.
